Abdalla Kamwana Kenya

Pourquoi je participe à l'appel des consciences

As a Muslim, I am a steward of Allah on earth and therefore under a religious obligation to take good care of the environment by ensuring prudent management practices and constructive mobilization of resources for sustainability.

As A Muslim Leader, I am mandated by the community to make informed decisions and participate effectively in decision making processes and structures essentially to advance the individual and collective good of Muslims.

The impacts of climate change are disastrous on both flora and fauna and the Muslims in Kenya are most affected by the debilitating effects of climate change largely due to their nomadic lifestyle and habitat characterized by hostile environmental conditions.

As parent, I owe a duty of care to my children and children’s’ children and therefore must make a serious contribution to posterity by ensuring protection and promotion of nature through informed decisions and effective participation in development and human advancement.

I will remain conscious, vigilant and actively engaged through informed, effective and sustained participation in the restoration, conservation and protection of nature locally, nationally, regionally and internationally.

What are your commitments for COP 21 and future to "Save the Planet" ?

I remain fully committed to the implementation of COP21 resolutions and will continue to participate fully in future undertakings towards a sustainable and progressive climate paradigm articulated within the purview of climate sensitive development.

Paris will be hosting and presiding the 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21/CMP11) from 30th November to 11th December.

COP21 will be a crucial conference, as it needs to achieve a new international agreement on the climate, applicable to all countries, with the aim of keeping global warming below 2°C.
